Well, sometime around the middle of May that year, our "Best Man" (not so much) is sitting in our living room and says “You are getting married Labor Day Weekend?!”
Me: "Um... yes."
Best Man: "I’m not coming then."
Me: "Um... why?"
Best Man: "It’s Dave Matthews at the Gorge."
Best Man: "I always go to Dave Matthews at the Gorge over Labor Day Weekend."
Now, I can't remember exactly how the rest of the conversation went, but I'm sure it wasn't pleasant (not a whole lot was those days, but that's another story). I was livid, but my former fiance was completely un-phased by this announcement. In retrospect, I should have immediately seen that for the giant warning sign it was.
Regardless, the Worst Best Man didn’t really need to worry about his concert as we did not get married but he made it very clear that he would not have come, if we had.
Fast forward to Thursday, September 3, 2015.
I am having dinner with my mom and we are talking about Labor Day being late this year and it came up that Saturday is Sept 5th. I say something to the effect of needing to cancel all my plans because Dave Matthews is playing at the Gorge. We are cracking up. Which led to talk of an “I need a Dave Matthews or Bust” sign. Then I get the genius idea to have my picture taken in a wedding dress with that sign. Alcohol may have been involved.
So, I put a plea on Facebook, sent a few texts to my assistant (and friend) Kelli, and soon we had a plan for a photo shoot. I hope you enjoy seeing the pics as much as we did shooting them. The help, support, encouragement and fun I get from my friends, family and clients make me feel like the luckiest and most loved girl in the world. Thank you to all of you (you know who you are).
Happy Anniversary to ME!!
